Hardware Selection

Jul 17, 2021

The final step: deciding what type of hardware to up fit your cabinets with..

So you've got everything planned out, we know what kind of cabinets you're going to have installed in your brand new kitchen, the floors are complete, the plumbing is done, everything is coming together. You just have one last decision to make: hardware.

While this may seem like a daunting task, we can help you understand what options you have and what style would look good with the cabinets you've selected for your bathroom or kitchen.

The hardware is the simplest to install and takes the least amount of time, but can help tie everything together and can make or break your home design.

Pulls or Knobs .. that is the question.

This will always be the first question that needs answered when deciding the type of hardware to go on your cabinets. A mix of both is usually the popular choice, but some people choose to go with all pulls. They are more easily accessed from a lower point and look great with shaker style cabinets.

Knobs are most popular on cabinet doors, and can be a great way to mix up your selection. A lot of people choose to go with pulls in the kitchen and knobs in the bathroom, but it mainly is just design preference.

Another factor that will go into selection of your cabinet hardware is the size. Our design professionals have a good idea of what is trending and acceptable in most cases, but ultimately it is the consumers preference that will be the ultimate deciding factor when it comes down to it. Your size of hardware will need to be proportionate to the size of the cabinet and fit in with all the others.

Deciding the Finish

Another decision that must be made is the finish of the hardware. There are many options when it comes down to it but the most popular tend to be brushed nickel and chrome. There are some others such as brass and antique brass that can compliment a more rustic looking kitchen.

The cool thing about selecting your finish is that it doesn't always have to match everything else such as the faucet or the countertops. That being said it should compliment the other elements in your home or kitchen in a way that makes sense aesthetically.

Style Selection

Style selection is probably the best part of the cabinetry selection process. There are countless options when it comes tpo hardware styles, and we provide any and all of these options.

Lately bar pulls seem to be a very popular option among new homeowners. They can span almost the full width of a cabinet drawer, or be a bit smaller.

A lot of this comes down to prefference and we would be happy to show you a sampling of what your finished product will look like. It can be helpful to see something in person before you order and it doesn't look quite right.

Some other popular hardware options, especially for white shaker cabinets: Curved wire shaker style, metal or glass knobs, flat bar pulls, bronze cup pulls, and gold shaker pulls.

Our professional staff of cabinetry and countertop experts are always standing by to assist you with your home renovation or new home installation project. Choosing the hardware can be a simple process of selection once you know exactly what options you have and what compliments the type of cabinet you have chosen to go with.
